About
Julia hails from the Frankfurt/Main region of Germany, but has lived in Amsterdam for over 20 years. She originally moved to the city to live with her best friend, now her husband. They have a son who was born 2008. He is on the autism spectrum and is the sunshine of their lives.
Having worked for many years in the contemporary art world, Julia made the switch to the contemporary yarn world in 2017.
Julia has always altered patterns to better flatter herself and her tastes and in 2019 took the leap into publishing her own designs. Colourwork yoke sweaters are a particular favourite for Julia, and she takes her inspiration from fine art and from nature.
Julia and her knitting buddy Matilda Ross occasionally whip up a video blog that’s equal parts cozy and creative! Whether they’re chatting about the latest inspiration strikes, sharing their WIPs (“works in progress” for you non-knitters), or gushing over patterns that make them swoon, it’s always a fun ride. For these two, being creatively productive isn’t just a hobby—it’s a way of life!
Julia talks some more about her background and what inspires her in the interview with Anna Gallinat on Knitcurrent.
